Churro Man in Miami

Dedicated to the Churro Man in Miami

This is a blog post dedicated to the local Churro man who will shed a tear today.

Lets reflect and take a brief moment to realize our betrayal to the local churro man on National Donut Day. Donuts are all the craze in Miami – and on this day even flakka dealers have to step down.

Free donuts are being offered and sold with more fluorescent colors, and way more complex to the palette. Social media feeds will be full of decadent donut creations that makes it look like the nation is celebrating diabetes denouncement day.

Churros have a more traditional approach to its preparation. Fried dough and loosely packed sugar, that never stays stuck to the dough. If you sneeze holding a churro, you’ll end up with just a greasy stick in your hand.

However, we have to give appreciation to the churro man for selling a dessert that is more commonly shared than the donut.

Next time you step foot in a churro place, look around, you’ll likely find a couple sharing churros, sometimes with their child. Go to a donut shop and look around and there’s always that one guy sitting there alone with a cup of coffee. The only time I ever share donuts is by the dozen because I’m late to work.

I must announce I’ve never been to a new wave donut shop. The creations I’ve seen are overwhelming and I wouldn’t know what to order. I wouldn’t want to be the guy ordering a plain cruller and coffee because that’ll be like ordering a Bud Light at a Craft Beer Bar.

Putting differences aside, Donuts and churros do go hand in hand. They are great morning time desserts and make lots of people happy. They are like the male and female parts of fried dough and belong together in perfect harmony.

So if you go out today in Miami and you see the local churro man, go up to him and say thank you for all your hardwork and dedication on this day. He will most likely gaze into your eyes and say: “que?”
